Dashrath, the boatman, is to ferry me to the ancient Baneshwar temple, built atop a tiny island right in the heart of the river. As the first light of daybreak approaches, the world outside remains cloaked in darkness, while the Ahilyeshwar temple facing my room, mysteriously glows from within, its grandeur accentuated by the deep blue-black sky.
